Adolescence is a time of huge change, and most teens don't realize how much is happening as they move from childhood toward adulthood. Responsibilities and academic expectations are being heightened. New schools, classes, friendships, and relationships are forming. The parent-child relationship has changed. Hormonal, mood, and sexual changes are happening.
My goal is to help teens build healthier ways of coping and a stronger sense of who they are.
Add the pressure of social media and constant connection, and the stress can feel overwhelming. For many teens, the phone becomes a primary way to cope, which can make real-life connection, attention, focus, positive thinking, physical activity and healthy behavior harder.
In therapy, I offer a supportive, nonjudgmental (and often fun and creative) space to work through social struggles, self-esteem, peer and parent relationships, and academic stress. I also help teens dealing with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, self-harm, substance use, and suicidal thoughts, as well as trauma, family dynamics, and experiences of sexual, emotional, or physical abuse.
My goal is to help teens build healthier ways of coping and a stronger sense of who they are.
