High school is over, along with the structure and stability that can come with it. Emerging adulthood can be exciting and deeply uncertain all at once. You may be in college, weighing your major, your career path, and the pull of the social scene and pressures from parents, peers, and “the real world” expectations. Or you may be grinding away at a job, with adulthood sinking in while you still don't feel like one yet.
Emerging adulthood can be exciting and deeply uncertain all at once.
Either way, questions like “Who do I want to become?” and “What kind of life am I building?” can weigh heavily. Or perhaps there are many roadblocks that need to be uncovered and worked on before we get to those big questions. Between economic unrest, global conflict, a divided country, and constant access to distressing news and graphic information, many of us are confused about how to navigate in such a world.
What might be a scary time for you, is a time of life in a client that I am extremely excited to work within. For this could be time when we start to realize what matters- what values, relationships, experiences, and work do we want to invest in?
In therapy, we'll work on these transitions you're facing, your relationships with friends and family, and the stress of school or work. I support young adults with self-esteem issues, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, self-harm, substance use, suicidal thoughts, trauma, complex family dynamics, and the impact of abuse, so you can build toward the human you want to be.
